From Martian Landscape to Icy Paradise

Austria, Tirol, Pitztal, mountain, glacier, nature, summer, scenery, vacation

Our second climb with a mountain elevator. I was so looking forward to it. The Pitztal Glacier, the most up-high situated glacier of Tirol, was also on my ‘Austria travel bucket list’ for a long time. My parents were quite enthusiastic too about this icy idea, so we took the car and headed straight to the parking of the Glacier Express.

Along the cross of the Hochzeiger mountain (Tirol; Austria)

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

There is nothing I love more than traveling to beautiful destinations and seeking adventures. I am currently in Tirol, Austria to conquer wonderful mountains, to take a dive in the many natural lakes and of course to take a lot of travel photos in this area. I have never really been above the tree line, but there is a first time for everything. The Hochzeiger mountain was on my to-do-list during the two weeks I am spending in Austria, a mountain with a height of 2560 meters! I expected it to be quite an adventure, but this experience exceeded my wildest expectations.

Wonderful evening walks

Black Forest, Germany, evening, walk, nature, landscape, sundown, flowers, sun, clouds, beautiful, coclors

When you spend some days (or weeks) in a foreign country, there are probably many differences if you compare this new place with your home. People have different traditions, the view is stunning and probably not what you are in habit of. Besides, you have another routine than when you spend your days home or at work. That last one means in my case also going later to bed and being more active. Therefore, evening walks are always part of my holiday trip, wherever I go.

First day in Austria

travel, Austria, Salzburger Land, Gerstreitalm, wanderlust, nature, hike, dog friendly

If you adore stunning landscapes and great hikes, Austria is a perfect county to travel to. This summer I went there for the first time and I was absolutely amazed by the kindness of the local folks, their dangerous driving skills which are practiced on the road and their wonderful regional attires. Furthermore, the spectacular scenery, cosy villages and impressive wild waterfalls made head over heals in love with Austria.

An unexpected turn in Austria

Liechtensteinklamm, St. Johann, Austria, Salzburg, waterfall, dog, touristic

Finally we have planned to visit one of the greatest waterfalls of this area, but that did not turn out as I had expected. What supposed to be the best part of our week in Austria turned out to be a little bit overestimated. Thanks to my great buddy and travel companion Odin, I had to stop the adventure and turn back… with my dog in my arms.

Two Sundays in a Row Kayak Adventure

kayak, Durbuy, Belgium, adventure, water, park, friend

In one of my previous posts, I already told you that I went kayaking with a friend who had invited me to spend the weekend with her in a holiday house in Oudenaarde, West-Vlaanderen. I had already done it one time in the North Sea at the coast of Oostende, which was actually our official senior school trip. Ever since that crazy experience, I adore kayaking and want to practice this sport in as many different areas as possible.

One of my friends from high school invited me to spend the weekend in Oudenaarde with her since she was there with her family who has a holiday home in that area. I had never been there and as a girl with a great desire to explore the world, I didn’t hesitate for one more second and immediately said I would be honoured visit Oudenaarde with her, which is in Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium by the way.
